At CES, NVIDIA introduced the GeForce RTX 50 Series desktop and laptop GPUs, setting the stage for a new era of generative and agentic AI content creation. These GPUs, built on the cutting-edge NVIDIA Blackwell architecture, bring enhanced tools for video editing, livestreaming, 3D rendering, and more.

Performance Redefined

The GeForce RTX 50 Series GPUs are designed to handle demanding generative AI models with twice the speed and efficiency of the previous generation, thanks to advanced FP4 quantization and up to 32GB of VRAM. Featuring ninth-generation NVIDIA encoders, DLSS 4, and other state-of-the-art capabilities, these GPUs are equipped to tackle large-scale 3D projects and advanced video workflows.

Additionally, NVIDIA's software ecosystem receives notable updates, including new AI-powered NVIDIA Broadcast effects, enhancements to RTX Video and RTX Remix, and NVIDIA NIM microservices, which streamline AI-driven workflows for creators.

Optimized for Generative AI

Generative AI has revolutionized creative workflows but demands robust hardware to support increasingly complex models. With FP4 quantization, the RTX 50 Series GPUs offer a more efficient approach, reducing memory requirements without compromising quality. For example, Black Forest Labs' FLUX.1 [dev] model, which previously needed over 23GB of VRAM at FP16, can now run on less than 10GB with FP4, significantly broadening accessibility.

Paired with NVIDIA TensorRT Model Optimizer, the RTX 50 Series accelerates tasks like image generation. For instance, the RTX 5090 generates high-quality images over three times faster than the RTX 4090.

The introduction of NVIDIA's AI Blueprint for 3D-guided generative AI empowers creators to shape AI-generated images using simple 3D objects. This innovative workflow, powered by the FLUX NIM microservice, integrates seamlessly with tools like Blender, delivering highly detailed compositions with ease. The blueprint is slated for release on GitHub in February.

Enhanced Video Capabilities

The RTX 50 Series delivers professional-grade video features with support for 4:2:2 color formats, multiview HEVC (MV-HEVC), and a new AV1 Ultra High Quality mode. These advancements cater to video editors and content creators, enabling smoother workflows and exceptional color fidelity.

Equipped with multiple encoders and decoders, the GPUs accelerate video exports and editing, with the RTX 5090 offering a 60% faster export speed compared to the RTX 4090. The inclusion of the ninth-generation NVIDIA NVENC encoder further improves video quality and compression efficiency.

Collaborations with industry leaders like Adobe Premiere Pro and DaVinci Resolve will bring these advancements to popular editing platforms starting in February.

Livestreamers can benefit from the Streamlabs Intelligent Streaming Assistant, developed in collaboration with NVIDIA and Inworld AI. Acting as a virtual producer, this AI-powered assistant can manage scene transitions, answer chat questions, and troubleshoot technical issues, lightening the load for solo streamers.

NVIDIA Broadcast also introduces new AI features like Studio Voice, which enhances microphone audio, and Virtual Key Light, which adjusts lighting for a polished on-camera appearance. These features, along with improved background effects and a refreshed interface, will be available in February.

With 32GB of memory and fourth-generation RT Cores, the RTX 5090 offers unparalleled 3D rendering performance, enabling creators to build intricate worlds and manage multiple applications simultaneously. DLSS 4, featuring Multi Frame Generation, boosts frame rates and enhances 3D navigation, ensuring smooth workflows for architects, designers, and animators.

Generative AI also transforms 3D modeling. Stability AI’s new SPAR3D model, accelerated by RTX, can generate 3D meshes from images in seconds, offering unprecedented speed and flexibility in design.

Next-Generation Modding and Gaming

The RTX 50 Series brings exciting updates to RTX Remix, including support for Neural Radiance Cache and RTX Skin, elevating realism in gaming mods. Characters in modded games will now feature lifelike skin rendering, adding depth and immersion to gameplay.

Availability

The GeForce RTX 5090 and 5080 GPUs will be available starting January 30, with the RTX 5070 Ti and 5070 launching in February, followed by RTX 50 Series laptops in March. All systems include NVIDIA Studio optimizations, offering accelerated performance across over 130 creative applications.
