Gone are the days when you needed professional actors, editors, and videographers to create a great promo video. It used to cost thousands just to make a short ad clip. With the advent of AI and the countless AI video creation tools now available online, you can produce high-quality promotional videos in no time—and for a fraction of the cost. By fraction, we mean less than $50 tops!
This tutorial is unlike any other guide you have viewed, either in text or video form. In this tutorial, we’ll show you how to create an ad video for social media channels such as Instagram, TikTok, YouTube shorts, and Snapchat.
The tutorial will teach you how to use Pollo.ai’s consistent character generator to create a 5-second video clip that serves as the opening scene for the ad video. The second clip focuses on the action, and the last shows the ad video's final scene.
In this tutorial, you will learn how to:
Gather relevant images for the video
Tweak the consistent character video settings
Craft a prompt for the opening scene
Create a video for the middle scene
Create a video for the end scene
Let’s get into it!
Step 1 - Gather relevant images for the video
We need 03 images to create a consistent character video. The first image is a photo of the main character. It can be a male, a female, or a gender-neutral person. Depending on your preferences, you can generate an image of your favorite character and use that image to create a consistent-character video or a royalty-free image from the web. Use any photo that doesn’t get you into legal problems.
We will play it safe for this tutorial by generating the image of a male character we intend to use in our promo videos.
Go to Midjourney.com, click ‘Create’ and write a prompt for a character. Use the following to get inspiration.
Prompt:
A young 25-year-old guy, a day old stubble, a strong jawline, high cheekbones, symmetrical facial features, a well-proportioned face, defined brow ridge, and a sharp chin. Slight muscular frame. Image on a light background. Muted cinematic mode, shot on cinestill flim –variation 2
Also, make sure that the stylization is set to 50. Click the arrow button or press ‘Enter.’
Here are the results. We selected the best one for the promo video. Notice the details. It’s really a good image for the video.
For the second and third images, we want to create a video about a chocolate bar—the Chocosavor bar (fictitious name). The promo video will show the guy coming home from work. He is too tired to make himself a meal, so he grabs the chocolate bar and smiles as if he is happy to eat it.
For this scenario, we need an image of the entry door to a barely furnished apartment. This will be the opening scene.
Use the following prompt for the described image.
Prompt:
A door from inside the apartment. Barely furnished. An old couch in front of an LED TV, a center table littered with old food packages, used soda cans, water bottles, and other debris. Cigarette butts in ashtray. Door visible. Muted cinametic mode. Shot using a red camera with a Canon cine lens. –variation 2 –ar: 3:4
We decided to use this image.
For the third image, we want a chocolate bar with the word ‘Chocosavor’ written on it. Use the following prompt to generate the image of the product. You can use your product here. We are showing you an example of what you can do with Pollo AI's consistent character feature.
Prompt:
A standard chocolate bar named ‘ChocoSavor’ is written on a clear label and a brownish-red wrapper. ChocoSavor name is written in white color. Clear letters. It's a muted cinematic mode. Shot with cinestill flim –variation 2 –ar: 3:4
The lettering is not clear. But we’ll use it anyway.
Step 2 - Tweak the consistent character video settings
Go to pollo AI. Sign in to an account and click ‘AI Video Generator.’
Important tip: You need a paid account to create consistent character videos. Pollo gives you 10 credits in the free account, but the consistent character feature requires a minimum of 20 credits.
In the video editor, click ‘Consistent Character Video.’
The consistent character video editor has a familiar interface. You must upload at least one image to create the CC video. However, you must upload three images for a video to have context. You also need at least three images to create a promo video.
Select the 16:9 aspect ratio. Keep the video length to 4 seconds. Change the output resolution to 720p. This will cost an additional 30 credits, but since we are creating a professional promo video, we must ensure that the video's output quality is clear and can be used to promote the product/service. Keep the motion range to ‘Auto.’
Upload the images you generated or gathered from other sources. The first image should be the photo of the character. The apartment image should go next. And for the third image, upload the product photo.
Step 3 - Craft a prompt for the opening scene
Now comes the most critical step in creating a consistent character video: crafting the prompt. Remember, each video costs you 50 credits, so it’s vital to plan every action meticulously and include all necessary details. A well-thought-out prompt ensures the generator leaves nothing to chance.
Think about the opening scene in detail. You want the guy to walk into the apartment looking tired. Take your time to think about the prompt. Use the following to get started.
Prompt:
A tired guy in a wrinkled shirt and trousers enters the apartment and opens the door. The apartment is well-lit but dirty. He walks towards the couch. The table in front of the couch is littered with food packaging and debris. Muted cinematic mode. Shot with a Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K. Subtle motion. The camera follows him dynamically from the front.
Click the ‘Create’ button.
-
It's not bad. The character is not up to par, but it can be used in the promo video.
Step 4 - Create a video for the middle scene
Since the chocolate bar image is not as good as it should be, we will use a real product for the video. For the middle scene, we chose an Amedei chocolate bar.
The middle part of the video is about the same guy who is seen walking into his apartment in the opening scene. In this video, we want to show him sitting on the sofa, looking tired and hungry. He shifts through the debris on the table to find something to eat.
Upload the photo of a young guy as the first image and a picture of the apartment as the second image. Leave the third image blank. Use the following prompt for the middle scene.
Prompt:
A tired, hungry man enters a messy, well-lit apartment and finds a worn-out sofa. He sits down with a weary sigh, his expression showing exhaustion and hunger. In front of him, a cluttered table is covered in old food packaging and debris. He rummages through the mess, hoping to find something edible. Suddenly, he pauses, his face showing a moment of realization. His hand reaches into his trouser pocket, searching for something.
The scene is filmed in muted cinematic mode, with a realistic, slightly desaturated colour palette. The environment is gritty but naturally lit, with soft, diffused light illuminating the space. The Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K captures the scene with subtle motion, maintaining a dynamic front-facing perspective as it smoothly follows his movements. The shot is immersive, conveying the character’s emotions through naturalistic cinematography.
Here are the results for the second video.
It followed the prompt reasonably well but was not up to the mark. Let’s move on to this tutorial's third and last video.
Step 5 - Create a video for the end scene
For the end scene, upload the Amedei chocolate as the third image. Use the following prompt to create the final scene of our promo video.
Prompt:
Suddenly, he pauses, his expression shifting as if he just remembered something. His hand reaches into his trouser pocket, searching for an item.
He pulls out an Amedei chocolate bar (third uploaded image) and looks at it with relief and delight. A small smile appears on his face as he holds the bar in both hands. With subtle excitement, he begins unwrapping the chocolate, his fingers carefully peeling away the packaging.
The scene maintains a muted cinematic tone with a gritty yet natural lighting style. The Blackmagic Cinema Camera 6K captures the moment with subtle motion, dynamically tracking his movements from the front. The framing and lighting remain consistent, emphasizing the intimate, immersive feel of the sequence.
Here are the results.
The character is consistent across all three video clips. Use inVideo AI to merge all three clips into a promotional video. You can also upscale these videos with Pollo AI for 10 credits. Experiment with your prompts and create videos that will help you promote your products/services.
